What is the PUUR mission? Democratize daily, wholehearted conversations and thus deliver joy and health for all.
Where did talk meditation come from? Neuroscience calls it, Transformational Conversations. Focused conversations as the primary method for enlightenment and freedom has been practiced for thousands of years; from the Bible, Buddha’s Eightfold Path and to the most recent of the Ancients, Rinzai Zen; where elder monks used compassionate inquiry (“Koans”) to multiply consciousness and compassion. Soon, this practice was adopted by warriors and emperors of Japan.
As time went on, talk meditation migrated to the West, where it was taught only in the most exclusive circles and luxury resort retreats; from Switzerland to Beverly Hills, California.
Since 2001, our founder, Richard Lee, has used the foundation of Compassionate Inquiry to practice the other three most regarded methods for body-brain health; pure connection, somatic experiencing and shadow work.
Today, PUUR has one foot rooted in ancient tradition and the other in modern science; from epigenetics, neurobiology, to relational neuroscience.

Rinzai Zen monks, wanting to accelerate the deepest awakenings and the highest enlightenment, meditated facing each other with compassionate questions and answers.
Rinzai Zen rose to prominence in the Kamakura period (1192-1333) under the patronage of lords, warriors, and emperors, and remained influential during the Ashikaga period (1338-1573). The celebrated master Hakuin was a major proponent of Rinzai Zen in the 18th century. In the 19th century, Rinzai Zen migrated west where it is highly regarded today.

Ultimately, Zen is traced back to China in the 6th century, where it is known as Lin-chi ("Zen"), in the 9th century by I-hsüan and was brought to Japan in 1191 by the respected Buddhist monk, Eisai.
Dyad ("Talk") Meditation voted #1 in the world's largest neuroscience study for brain & body health.
In 2013, world-renowned neuroscientist, Prof. Tania Singer, director of compassion research at the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, wanted to conduct an unprecedented study to discover the best methods for health and wellbeing. Shortly after, Prof. Singer came across dyad meditation while on a retreat in Switzerland.
She was fascinated by how dyads were being practiced by the elites but was yet unknown to the masses. She then also saw the rise of "mindfulness" in the U.S. However, she was shocked when she discovered that the hype was based on low-grade "studies" from advocates of mindfulness with financial agendas, more than from unbiased third-party researchers.
So Prof. Singer, with no bias of either practice, saw a crucial need to bring the truth out into the world. She was eager to test if the hype of mindfulness can withstand the rigorousness of a longitudinal study ("The study of studies") based on objective modern scientific measurements over the long term, and if dyad meditation could withstand the same clinical scrutiny.
In 2014, Prof. Singer assembled a world-class team of researchers backed by Max Planck Institute for a one-year intensive study, called, The ReSource Project—a large-scale multi-methodological secular mental health research program—which became, The World's Largest Neuroscience Study of Health & Wellbeing.
This breakthrough study, the first of its kind and the first to be presented at The World Economic Forum (Oct., 2015) would unveil shocking truths that would dispel the hype of mindfulness.
The central truth emerged in two-parts:
1. Mindfulness lost (badly) to dyad meditation in every category of health & wellbeing; from lowering stress hormones, boosting neurogenesis, immunity, compassion, upgrading epigenetics, improving prosocial behaviors for better relationships, raising emotional intelligence and personal income.
It was a landslide win for dyad meditation and a shocking global embarrassment for mindfulness.
Since, other leading studies from other renowned researchers have exposed the same myths of mindfulness.
2. Many now know, there is no true health and wellbeing without first improving the mind and brain. So it goes to reason, that which is the most powerful at improving the mind and brain is also the most potent in manifesting sustainable health and wellbeing—and that practice is dyad meditation "PUUR."
While the truths that emerged from this "study of studies" have shocked many, it certainly would be no surprise to those Rinzai Zen monks, lords, warriors and emperors.
