Is Connection from Real Convos the King of Mental Health?
Conclusively, yes. There isn't even a close second place predictor
Below findings summarize the conclusions of the world's top mental health clinicians, in addition to hundreds of studies including the world's top longitudinal studies ("The Study of Studies") on happiness, health, and resilience.
Increased mental health was most strongly related [the #1 predictor] to a greater experience of connection to others. By contrast, poorer wellbeing was related to a greater experience of disconnection from others. Finally, life satisfaction decreased when participants experienced greater self-disconnection.
Connection Lets People Thrive
Connection is THE “superpower,” a turbocharger, that makes people “smarter, happier, and more productive.” This truth is now conclusive from the world's top researchers, including UCLA neuroscience professor Matthew Lieberman, author of Social: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Connect, has described it (Lieberman 2013a).
Most people don’t yet recognize connection as THE superpower that can protect them and propel them forward; therefore, they miss out on its benefits. In their defense, they may be living and working in cultures that have conditioned them not to see, feel, or experience connection (through open, deep conversations) as much as they should to live the most productive and enjoyable lives possible.
